Training
The format for each Break runs along similar lines. Where there is a single Instructor there will be 3 groups with no more than 8 in a group. Sessions will be 2 hours long and you work either morning, mid-morning or afternoon. Each group is on at one of these times over the 3 days.
Where there are 2 Instructors, there will be 4 groups ranging from 6 to 8 in a group, depending on the structure of the Break. Sessions will be either 2 hours or 3 hours, working morning or afternoon, alternately on each of the days.
As well as the official training sessions handlers have the opportunity to train any of their dogs on the practice equipment provided. These are situated in two paddocks, close to the other facilities. They are available up to 4pm on each day.
In the late afternoon, a course is set-up in the main ring and all handlers get the opportunity to have a go.
From 2007, it is the intention to use a video to record aspects of the training as a visual aid. The use of the equipment will depend on how each Instructor wishes to employ it. Facilities for viewing will be provided in the marquee.
